Candy Crush Soda Saga: Coco Canyon

Candy Crush Nails

Hello and Happy New Year to you all! Lift those spirits out of those winter blues with something bright and cheery that might also be sweet enough to eat! Find out how I whipped up this sweet and colorful nails after the break!

Colours Used: Sinful Colours in Nirvana, Ruby Ruby, and Black on Black | OPI Gumdrops in Cherry Amore | Avon Nail Polish in Sunshine, Electric Green, Blue Escape, Vivid Purple, Fuchsia Fun, and Cotton Candy | Sally Hansen Extreme Wear in Lilac and Blue It | Joe Fresh Nail Polish in Tigerlily

I'm sure you guys all know what Candy Crush Soda Saga is right? If for some reason you've been living under a rock or just not that much into mobile gaming, Candy Crush Soda Saga is the sequel to the astronomically popular game Candy Crush Saga, and like the original game, is just as chock full of sugary sweets and diabetes-inducing graphics. I'm also very much in love with the soundtrack of this game as it does have that magical and regal quality in it as well as it feeling very reminiscent of the winter/holiday season. But then again, the entire soundtrack was composed by an orchestra so of course it would have you feeling this way!

One day, while I was playing the game, I became inspired by the level design of Coco Canyon, and I got really excited just thinking about it and I just couldn't wait to do nails on them!

What really got me into it though, was the backstory of the level, which involved a goat with rainbow horns, that just refused to come down because "there's only disappointment and sticky feet waiting for him", which kinda represented my general state of mind when things become tough.

To start things off, I did the soda springs in the traditional colours using an ombre effect. I started off with a layer of the Fuchsia Fun nail polish, then sponged on the Vivid Violet on the bottom half, making sure that it's evenly blended and true to colour. To complete the ombre effect, I sponged on some of the Cherry Amore to add some depth, shimmer, (and fizziness!) to the look.

For the Rainbow Horns, I used the same colours that had appeared on the goat's horns. I tried my best to mimic the swirly shape of the horn but it ended up being a trippy and bizzare mess!

Rainbow Swirl Nail
The Swirl (Before I added the pink and orange in)
While it still looks good overall for my first time doing this, I think it would of been a whole lot better if I had added some black outlining to make it a whole lot neater and defined so that it looks more like an actual horn. Oh well! I think it still looks cool and pretty to look at even on its own! :)

The Same Swirl, But on my Right Hand
Next to the Rainbow Swirl, and the Soda Ombre, the Chocolate-Honey Was my favourite part! I did a couple of layers of the Nirvana nail polish then with a dotting tool, I added the honey drizzle which can be seen from the tops of some of the Coco Canyons, then added some fun sprinkles to add some more colour and interest to the look. I think this is what the goat meant by "sticky feet", But honestly, I think that he needs to live more and get his feathers ruffled once in a while! Honey is delicious and it tastes amazing with chocolate! Who knows? It might actually perk him up and make him into the happy goat that I'm sure that he once was!

To complete the look (and to complement the rest of the vibrant nails!), I did a coco straw design on the thumb using the same Nirvana base as the Chocolate-Honey (but with some white mixed in), and then adding some black and milk chocolate stripes to the nail.

It feels great to be back to blogging again after the emotional breakdown that has been happening to me for the past couple of months. As long as I stay positive and don't do anything that will make relapse again, I should be just fine.

I hope this has helped bring back some well needed colour into your lives! Have any of you guys started playing Candy Crush Soda yet? (and if not stop what you're doing and get on it immediately!)
What do you guys think of the game? Let me know in the comments below!
